Are you looking for an easy solution to allow users to upload files from their mobile devices to your WordPress site? Perhaps you want to enable users to take pictures directly from their phone and upload files from the phone camera to the WordPress form?
If your visitors are accessing the form from a smartphone, it’s essential to provide them with both options. Otherwise, you might lose a few leads quickly.
But don’t worry! With the WordPress photo upload plugin from Ninja Forms, users can conveniently upload files from their phones to WordPress form directly, including the ability to capture stunning pictures or record captivating videos in real time.
Upload images from mobile devices to WordPress forms
File Uploads add-on is not just a photo upload plugin for your WordPress forms. You can upload any type of file, restrict file size, the number of files users can upload, and much more. Our file upload plugin gives your WordPress forms power with a Select Files button. You can allow users to upload files from any device, be it a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop computer.
Your users can submit a wide variety of files. This makes our file upload plugin an ultimate solution for streamlining file submissions and engaging with your audience.
Once you install the File Uploads add-on, all you need to do is add a File Upload button to your WordPress form. Feel free to rename this button as you like.
Now when your users are on the mobile device and click Select Files, they will have three options to select from on your WordPress form. Users can upload images from the Photo Library on their phone, take photos or videos from inside Ninja Form, or choose a file (document) from their phone to upload files to the WordPress form.
That’s it. Nothing complicated, right? As you can see, our WordPress photo upload plugin enables visitors to submit files from their devices and provides an option to take a picture using their device’s camera. But we are not done yet.
With the increasing trend of taking photos using phone cameras, HEIC files have become very popular, and so the question among our Ninja Forms users is if our forms are supporting this file format. The answer is YES. Read below to learn more!
Allow users to upload HEIF/HEIC files from an iPhone mobile device into WordPress
With so many iOS users out there, the HEIF or HEIC format has become an increasingly popular file type for images. These formats offer a more efficient way of storing images compared to traditional formats like JPEG. HEIF/HEIC files use advanced compression algorithms, allowing them to store high-quality images at smaller file sizes.
However, not many file upload plugins out there can accept these file formats. Users typically have to convert to JPG formats before uploading. This may be too tricky and time-consuming. Also, WordPress only allows for certain types of files you can upload through your site’s admin by default.
Luckily, with our File Uploads add-on, you can expand the list with additional file formats such as HEIF and HEIC. So let’s take a look at how you can let your users upload the HEIF or HEIC files from their iPhones to your WordPress forms!
Step 1: Add a File Uploads field to your WordPress form
When you install the File Uploads add-on, you’ll gain access to the File Uploads field named Select Files. This file upload button can be renamed and unlocks multiple file upload settings.
The one you want to pay attention to the most is the Restrictions tab. Here, you can set a file upload limit, specify the maximum and minimum file size, and most importantly, decide which file types users can upload to your WordPress forms.
Step 2: Add your desired file types into the Allowed File Types field
Once you open the Restriction tab, you will access the Allowed File Types area where you can type in the files you want to allow users to upload to your WordPress form. Since we only want to allow the HEIC and HEIF file types, we will enter heic, heif to the field.
That’s it. Now, you can accept HEIC/HEIF formats in your WordPress forms that are not supported in WordPress by default. Please note, that this setting will only allow HEIC and HEIF files to be uploaded.
If you want other file types to be uploaded, list the file types using the comma-separated list as shown below.
