Is your inbox cluttered with form submissions from temporary or disposable email addresses? If so, we’ve discovered a great tool to block those disposable email addresses in WordPress.
Introducing the Clearout Email Validator, a robust solution that just so happens to integrate with Ninja Forms.
The plugin performs an extensive suite of validation tests for your email field, curating a blocked sender’s list to manage and filter out unwanted email addresses. You can block any disposable email addresses, block free email addresses if you want to (Gmail, Yahoo), and even accept business emails only!
Getting Started:
Kickstart your journey toward a cleaner inbox by ensuring you have the following:
- Ninja Forms free core plugin.
- Clearout Email Validator plugin.
- A free account on Clearout.io.
Create your free account on Clearout.
To set up the Clearout plugin will require an API token. Simply create an account on Clearout.io (no credit card required), log in, and navigate to Apps > Create App.
A pop-up will appear. Choose Server, and name your app. Then click Create.
You’ll see the API token. Copy it, then go back to your WordPress site.
Set up the Clearout Email Validator plugin.
Go to Settings > Clearout Email Validator (make sure you’ve activated the plugin). Copy and paste your API token.
Now, you can begin setting up your validator! Whenever you open an email from a sender you wish to block, simply click ‘Add’ to the block the list button.
By default, the plugin will block role-based addresses (admin@something.com), and disposable addresses (@mailinator.com). You can allow either or both by checking the checkboxes in the settings. Another setting that you can do is accept only business addresses, which will override all the other settings. This is what I chose for this demonstration.
Next, if you scroll down, you’ll see a list of forms that you can apply the validation to. Choose ‘Ninja Forms‘ to apply it to your form.
And that’s it! If you test your form, it will approve only email business addresses. Below, I tried to input a Gmail address, and the form won’t submit, giving me the message, ‘This email address is invalid or not allowed – please check.’
Once a sender is added to the block list, all future messages from that sender will be categorized as junk email, ensuring a cleaner inbox. Moreover, you have the option to block contacts directly from the email client or WordPress plugin, providing a more tailored approach to managing your spam folder.
Besides, marking a message as spam helps in filtering out emails from specific senders, providing a more robust solution against unwanted emails.
