How to create a WordPress user registration form with our extension
These ready-made forms allow guests to register as users on your WordPress website. To create a form:
- Select the Register User form template and edit the form field to match your needs.
- Click the Emails & Actions tab and select Register User to open the settings window.
- If making a form from scratch, map settings to fields using the dropdown arrow in each field. In the default template, all the settings are mapped out. All you need to do is set the role of the user from the options Super Administrator, Administrator, Author, Contributor, Editor, and Subscriber.
Advanced settings:
- Toggle on/off logging in a user after registration.
- Email login credentials to a new user.
Map custom User Meta to the User Meta table
Custom Meta can efficiently auto-populate fields with user-submitted data. Here’s how:
- Add a field to the registration form.
- Navigate to Emails & Actions > Register User > Advanced settings.
- Select Custom Meta > Add New and enter the Meta Key of choice.
- In the Meta Value field, click the merge tag icon and select the field you wish to auto-populate.
- Go to Update Profile and repeat the above steps, making sure to assign the same Meta Key.

- Select the Login form template and change the fields to fit your needs.

- Set the username, which can be text or email, and create a password.
Users forgetting their password won’t be a hassle. It’s really easy to add a lost password link to your form that triggers an email to the user with reset instructions.
Let registered users update their user profiles
Forget the hassle of manually changing a user’s email, password, or any other profile info for them. User Management includes a ready-to-use Update Profile form template! The Update Profile form can be placed anywhere and will be available to logged-in users only.
Any time profile information needs an update, the user can submit the form to change it themselves. WordPress user management doesn’t get easier than automatic!
Manage access to WordPress form submissions
User access settings let you control who can edit or view your forms. On your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Ninja Forms > User Access.
Normally, only Admins can access form submissions. That can be a pain if you need others to be able to see past submissions or if you need a hand managing incoming submissions. To edit the access settings, you must first go to Ninja Forms > Submissions > Advanced Settings and disable the Legacy Submissions Page.
You can now allow other user roles to view only or view and edit form submissions.

Can I use User Management to restrict content to logged-in users only?
You can restrict any form to be viewable only to logged-in users, and User Management will integrate smoothly with any popular restrict content plugin for WordPress to do the same for posts and pages.
Does User Management support custom user roles?
Yes, User Management will see and allow users to register as any custom user role that you already have set up in WordPress.
Why can’t I see my registration or login form after publishing it?
Registration and login forms are only visible to logged-out users. If you’re testing your form and can’t see it on a published page, you’ll need to log out first. This setup prevents confusion for users who are already logged in.
How do I add a “Forgot Password” link to my login form?
You can easily add a password reset link by placing an HTML field on your login form and inserting the merge tag {user_management:password_reset}. This feature will generate a standard password reset link that users can click if they’ve forgotten their credentials.
What’s the difference between “Owner” and “Others” permissions?
When granting access to form submissions:
When using the Email Credentials feature, do I still need to create a separate email action?
No. When you enable Email Credentials in the Register User action’s Advanced Settings, the system will automatically send login credentials to new users with a randomly generated password. While you can add additional email actions if desired, they are not required for basic credential delivery.

How do Ninja Forms licenses work?
Licenses are subscription based and will auto-renew each year unless cancelled. If cancelled, you may still use your extensions but will no longer receive important updates or support once the license expires.
