Repeatable Fieldset Update

If you’re not familiar with the Repeating Fieldset, it’s a handy form field that lets you add groups of fields to your form that users can duplicate as needed. Let’s explore the improvements in this update and how they can benefit you.

Repeater Field Error Handling

Previously, visitors could bypass required repeater fields.

Now, errors made within repeatable sections will be caught and shown to the user, making it easier to correct entries. Note that validation currently only works for fields inside the Repeatable Fieldset.

So if a user skips the Repeatable Fieldset altogether, they will still be able to submit the form.

Display entries from repeatable sections with the HTML (Layout ) field

You can now use merge tags to display information from repeatable sections in other parts of your form, giving you more control over form appearance and functionality.

To show data from your repeater fields, click on the HTML field merge-tag icon. This will open up the merge tag menu, where you will have the option to select the Repeatable Fieldset. If you do it right, the data will display form entries in real time.

Customize the Repeating Fieldset button and description

Now you can make the repeatable Fieldset button say anything you want!

Just head over to the form builder, click on the Repeatable Fieldset gear icon, and next to the label, you will see an option for Button Text.

Now you can edit the button to say anything you want.

Description

You can now add a description to your repeatable sections, helping users understand what they need to do.

Click on the Repeatable Fieldset gear icon to open the field, and look for the Display dropdown.  There you will find the description field where you can customize the repeatable section helping users understand what they need to do.

Saving data from repeatable fields

When you download the form submissions, all data from repeatable sections will be included, even if the user didn’t duplicate the section.

• Correct display of date fields: Date fields within repeatable sections now display properly, making it easier for users to enter dates.

Sending form emails with repeatable fields

Automatic emails based on form submissions will now include data from repeatable sections, with clearer field labels for better communication.

Retriggering Email notifications

You can now display data from the repeating fields when refiring an email  ( Ninja Forms > Submissions > Bulk actions > Trigger Email Action ) and send its CSV as well.

Repeatable Fieldset Add-on Enhancements

Enhancements have been added to the Save Progress and Multi-Step Forms add-ons, ensuring compatibility and a smoother user experience.

• Saving progress: When users partially complete a form and save their progress, repeatable sections will now display correctly when they return to finish the form.
• Compatibility with multi-step forms: Repeatable sections now work perfectly with forms that have multiple steps, displaying correctly and saving all information as expected.
