How to Get and Display Video Testimonials for Your Website

Video testimonials are a powerful tool for building trust, boosting engagement, and enhancing conversion rates on your website. But did you know they also offer significant SEO and accessibility advantages over text alone?

Embarking on this journey might seem daunting. You could custom-code a solution or hire a developer, but these options can be time-consuming and costly. Enter Ninja Forms – a streamlined solution that makes integrating user-uploaded videos into your website a breeze. With our File Upload and Front-End Posting add-ons, you’ll be ready to roll in no time.

In this comprehensive tutorial, we’ll guide you through the process of creating a WordPress form for user-generated content. So, let’s dive in and start leveraging the power of video testimonials.

Collecting Video Testimonials with Front-End Posting

If you’re new to the File Uploads add-on, we recommend starting with our guide on how to allow users to upload videos in WordPress. This tutorial covers essential steps like creating a video upload form, handling large video files, and accommodating various video file types.

Once you’re comfortable with uploading user-submitted videos to YouTube, it’s time to learn how to integrate them into your website. With the Front-End Posting add-on and a few minutes to spare, you’re all set to begin. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide:

  1. Install and activate the Front-End Posting add-on.
  2. Navigate to Email & Actions and add the Create A Post action.
  3. Select your desired Post Type from the dropdown menu.
  4. Add a Post Title, either manually or by using the merge-tag selector.
  5. Use the merge-tag selector to append the file upload to the Post Content field.
Create Post action. Enter your post type, post title and post content.

And there you have it! With your form saved and published, you’re ready to start collecting video testimonials for your website. Review and Approve Video Testimonials

While providing customers with the ability to upload videos is a great feature, it’s crucial to review the content before it goes live. You certainly wouldn’t want to inadvertently publish harmful content or open the door to spammers.

To manage this, navigate to the ‘Create Post’ action and select the ‘Advanced‘ dropdown (enable ‘Dev Mode‘ if you don’t see this setting). Here, you’ll find settings for the post author, post status, and post format, giving you control over who can publish content and when.

Determining the Post Status for user generated content.

To ensure posts are reviewed before publishing, change the ‘Post Status’ to ‘Pending Review.’ From a contributor’s perspective, ‘Draft’ indicates the post is still being worked on, while ‘Pending Review’ signifies it’s ready for review. Both statuses prevent the post from being published immediately, allowing you to choose the best workflow for your team.

Once set, any user with the ‘Editor‘ role can review and publish the post.

Bonus – How Patrons Can Edit their own Video Testimonial Submissions

Boosting engagement and enhancing user experience is simple – allow users to edit their form submissions. By installing the Ninja Forms User Management add-on, you can easily manage user access. Navigate to Ninja Forms > Dashboard > User Access, and select the user roles that can view or edit submissions.
