WordPress 6.1 is well underway and slated for release in October of this year, as we announced on the blog in late July. This latest iteration enhances the user experience on both the front and back ends. Site visitors will enjoy better accessibility, design, and navigation, while site creators will have a more seamless experience with customizations.
More to Expect from WP 6.1
There are many new and improved features to look forward to in WordPress 6.1. Previously, we discussed Browse Mode plus improved Global Styles and patterns. But, the highly-anticipated updates don’t stop there.
Responsive Typography
This release enables responsive typography, meaning posts will resize fluidly depending on the viewer’s screen size. Whether they access your site from a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, visitors will have a high-quality experience.
Link Settings
6.1 also includes more control over link settings. Select unique colors depending on a link’s state, including default and previously visited, plus when a user hovers over a link.
List View Labels
List View is one of the more empowering features introduced in WordPress 5.9, allowing site editors to get a fast, organized, and easily-understood view of page organization. In 6.1, you’ll be able to create custom labels for blocks in List View, allowing for even more clarity.
Template Navigation
Viewing your saved templates will be easier after the 6.1 release. A visual view offers a thumbnail glimpse of each template as a whole, allowing you to compare and select your desired template easily.
Seamless Control, Savvy Interactions
As you can see, with each release, WordPress gets better and better. After an incredible year with the groundbreaking, block-based WordPress 5.9 and its helpful follow-up, WordPress 6.0, and WordPress 6.1 will allow for more control and creativity when customizing your site.
